1/144 USMC F/A-18A+ VMFA-232 "Red Devils"The F/A-18 Hornet is a U.S.-built fighter-bomber. Built by McDonnell Douglas following a request from the U.S. Navy, it is one of the most versatile aircraft currently in service: in fact, it is specially designed to cover the roles of fighter aircraft, ground attack, close air support, tactical bombing, reconnaissance, and advanced air control. Because of its ability to cover all these roles, it is an excellent embarked aircraft; its great (original) shortcoming, however, is its poor range, corrected in the new F/A-18E version. The project is now being overseen by Boeing after it acquired McDonnell Douglas in 1997.

1/144 USAF B-47 "306th BW(M)"The U.S.-built Boeing B-47 Stratojet was the world's first successful jet-powered bomber. Produced between 1947 and 1955 in more than 2,000 examples, it took jet bomber technology to an unprecedented level of reliability and efficiency, as did the total number of aircraft produced, but it never gained popularity among its pilots, especially early in its career, which was also very short. It is especially important for having introduced two fundamental solutions (arrow wings and pod-mounted engines under the wings), which greatly influenced the airliner market, starting with the Boeing 707, which moreover adopted the "civilian" version of its engines.

1/144 AH-64D/DJ ApacheThe Boeing AH-64 Apache is an attack helicopter developed in the United States of America beginning in the 1970s. It uses a main rotor and a tail rotor, both with four blades. The helicopter was designed as a twin-engine two-seat tandem aircraft for use in anti-tank, assault, escort and anti-helicopter fighter missions, to be flown in all weather and light conditions. The main armament consists of a 30 mm caliber M230 Chain Gun automatic gun. It can come equipped with a combination of anti-tank missiles, rockets and air-to-air missiles attached to the side flaps. The Apache is the U.S. Army's main attack helicopter and the successor to the Bell AH-1 Cobra. It was designed by Hughes Helicopters to meet the requirements of the "advanced attack helicopter" (AAH or Advanced Attack Helicopter) program launched by the U.S. Army in 1972. Later, McDonnell Douglas acquired Hughes Helicopters and continued the development of the AH-64, resulting in the AH-64D Apache Longbow. At the end of various corporate ups and downs, the design was acquired by Boeing Defense, Space & Security, which continues its production for U.S. needs and for export to other countries. The Apache saw its first operational use in battle during the U.S. Army's engagement during the 1989 invasion of Panama. Other wartime uses of the helicopter by the U.S. Army included the 1991 Gulf War, the 1999 Kosovo War, the 2001 Afghanistan War, and the 2003 Iraq War. Israeli AH-64s have participated in all of their country's major military operations since the 1990s.

However, it was the Soviet fighter that, by far, suffered the greatest losses in combat against the Luftwaffe. The Yak-1 was the progenitor of a family of models that would be produced, over the course of the conflict, in more than 37,000 examples.

It was used mainly in World War II and during the Korean War. It was the best carrier-based fighter of World War II, but it proved to be extraordinarily effective even ground-based and unbeatable in ground attack, in many respects superior even to the P-51 Mustang. Despite its qualities, it spent half its career ashore, as the U.S. Navy initially considered it unsuitable for aircraft carriers. It recorded an extraordinary amount of air victories. In the Pacific alone, the F4U shot down 2,140 Japanese planes, compared to the loss of 189 Corsairs, a shoot-down-to-loss ratio still unmatched. It was produced for ten years, until December 1952, the longest-running American aircraft in production, until the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II.12,571 were produced, and the last remained in service until 1965.

1/35 USMC AH-1W "NTS Update"The Bell AH-1 SuperCobra is a twin-engine attack helicopter based on the Bell AH-1 Cobra. The twin-engine family derived from the original single-engine Cobra, includes the AH-1J SeaCobra, AH-1T Improved SeaCobra and AH-1W SuperCobra. The AH-1W was the backbone of the United States Marine Corps' fleet of attack helicopters, but was replaced in the next decade by the AH-1Z Viper, a further improved and upgraded version. The single-engine AH-1 Cobra was developed in the mid-1960s as an armed helicopter for the United States Army engaged in the Vietnam War at the time. The Cobra shared the engine, T53 transmission and rotor with the pre-existing UH-1 "Huey."In June 1967, Bell began delivery of the first AH-1G HueyCobra; production continued through 1973, totaling 1116 units (and more than one million flight hours in military operations). The United States Marine Corps, which was very interested in the Cobra, however, preferred an aircraft that was twin-engine, as a matter of greater safety in water operations, and that had a turret equipped with more powerful armament.Initially, the U.S. Department of Defense opposed the supply of twin-engine helicopters, believing that there would be more advantages in having a single helicopter in common between the Marine Corps and the Army, rather than supporting different versions. But in May 1968, the Marines were able to enter into a contract with Bell to supply 49 AH-1J SeaCobra twin-engine helicopters, and in 1969, as a temporary measure, they acquired 38 AH-1Gs from the Army. The SeaCobras were equipped with the M197 20-mm caliber rotary-barrel gun derived from the M61 Vulcan. In the 1970s, requests from the USMC for a machine capable of operating in higher operating temperatures and with greater war load capability led Bell to the development of the AH-1T "Improved SeaCobra." This helicopter was based on the experimental Bell 309 King Cobra model, from which it took upgrades in the powertrain and turbine engine assembly, which became a Pratt & Whitney Canada T400-CP-400 Twin Pac. Structurally, it had a longer fuselage and tail boom. The "Improved" SeaCobra also met another important requirement: the ability to be easily maintainable. Warfare capability was increased by equipping the helicopter with TOW missiles and installing the associated sensor and target acquisition system. In the late 1970s, an improved version, dubbed AH-1T+, equipped with General Electric T700 engines and advanced avionics, was offered for sale to Iran, but due to the overthrow of the Shah's regime, the supply contract was canceled.Toward the beginning of the 1980s, the USMC was looking for a new type of embarked helicopter, but in 1981 Congress denied the funds needed to purchase such aircraft (the Hughes AH-64 Apache). The choice fell on an even more powerful version of the AH-1T, the Bell AH-1W "SuperCobra," capable of employing the AIM-9 Sidewinder and AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and having a new Fire Control System. Funds were allocated to purchase 179 new helicopters and 43 upgrade kits from the AH-1T version. The first AH-1W was delivered on March 27, 1986, and the last in 1999.A technology demonstrator of the AH-1T+ and a prototype of the AH-1W were used to test a new experimental four-bladed composite main rotor. The new system improved aerodynamic performance, reduced noise, and increased combat damage capability. Lacking a contract with the USMC, Bell developed with its own funds this new helicopter, named the AH-1Z "Viper." In addition to adopting the new four-bladed rotor, the "Viper" possessed a slightly different profile from its predecessors because of its war load-carrying flaps; these were larger and allowed the possibility of mounting a Sidewinder or Hellfire missile at their ends.Because in 1996, the development costs for a naval version of the Apache (a helicopter the Marines had been aiming for since the decade before), were still too high, a contract was signed to provide the USMC with the upgrades necessary to bring 180 AH-1W aircraft up to AH-1Z status. The last AH-1Ws were officially retired from service on October 19, 2020.

1/48 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero Fighter Model 21 The Battle of Midway 80th AnniversaryThe Mitsubishi A6M, also known as the Zero, was a long-range embarked fighter produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and used by the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1940 until 1945.Considered at the time of its introduction to be the best embarked fighter in the world, it continued to be produced until the end of World War II, despite the fact that it had by then been surpassed in maneuverability, speed, armament and protection by newer Allied aircraft. In the last years of the war it was frequently used in kamikaze operations. The A6M was named "Zero" by the Japanese from the last digit of the year 2600 of their traditional calendar (corresponding to 1940) in which it was accepted. The Allies accordingly adopted the relevant translation as the name of the A6M, a designation sometimes also mistakenly associated with other fighter aircraft such as the Nakajima Ki-43. In addition to the Zero, the model was called by other nicknames by the Americans, such as "Zeke," "Hamp," and "Hap."When hostilities began with the outbreak of World War II, the Zero was considered the best carrier-borne fighter in the world because it combined excellent maneuverability with a very long range. In early air combat, the Zero earned a legendary reputation as a "hunter," but by 1942 new combat tactics enabled Allied pilots to engage in duels on more balanced terms. The Japanese Navy also frequently used the aircraft by employing it from the ground. In 1943, the weaknesses inherent in the original design and the growing unavailability of more powerful aero engines led the Zeros to become less effective against later-generation U.S. fighters with greater firepower, armor, and speed and which began to approach the Japanese aircraft's levels of maneuverability.Although the A6M was outdated in 1944, it remained in production. In the final years of the conflict, of the 10,937 examples produced, many were converted into kamikaze aircraft. Many versions of the original Zero were produced in Japan, setting it apart from the rest of the other nations in the war effort.

During its career, the SR-71 broke a number of records, which remain unbeaten to this day, most notably the record, from 1976, for the highest speed ever achieved by a nonexperimental manned aircraft (3530 km/h) and the highest altitude (almost 26000 m).The SR-71 Blackbird was developed at "Groom Lake," better known as Area 51, which is currently no longer in operation due to very high operating costs. After the end of the Cold War, no further research was done to improve it. It was akin to the YF-12A interceptor fighter and the A-12 reconnaissance fighter, both of which were similar in shape and performance. On March 6, 1990, an SR-71A before its transfer to the Washington Museum set the latest, new records for mileage between different locations and in the Atlantic crossing in particular:West Coast to East Coast - Distance: 3869 km, Time: 1h07'53.69", Average Speed: 3417 km/h (Mach 2.8)S. St. Louis to Cincinnati (Record) - Distance: 500 km, Time: 8'31.97", Average Speed: 3 524 km/h (Mach 2.9)Kansas City to Washington D.C. (Record) - Distance: 1 516 km, Time: 25'58.53", Average Speed: 3 501 km/h (Mach 2.93)His official speed record is 3 529.56 km/h, but on one of these routes he maintained an average of 3 608 km/h or Mach 3.02.
